02 Aug Law Firm Adds Treadmill Desks for Stressed Lawyers
In Cincinnati, one law firm is trying to enhance the health and stress levels of crazed attorneys. With the addition of several “treadmill desks,” the firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister boasts of helping their lawyers multitask in the ultimate way. They have one desk/treadmill for communal use, complete with Internet hookup and phone capability. And several partners have already put one in their office.
I’m thinking it might be a little tough to manage a conference call while walking at 4.0 miles an hour. But reading a document or planning, sure why not? And with Siri nearby, you don’t even need to type, just dictate while moving.
While admittedly not the most active person, I know the importance of avoiding sedentary activity like sitting at your desk all day. One thing I’ve started doing: during conference calls – just stand up. You actually burn calories standing vs. sitting. Give it a try. As I talk about in my latest book, getting off your butt is important!
